Great (little) vintage canvas bag
The hot issue with this canvas bag seems to be size. I don't have any measuring tape on me, but from rough estimate 12x9(or10)x5. It's small. I'd compare it to the small dickies messenger bags also found on amazon. The one major plus of this bag is it's thickness. Mine usually has three or four thin traveling books, two steno pads, and one fairly thick book on Emily Dickenson. And still have room in the main compartment for misc thumbdrives, mp3 player, and blackberry. I have one of the dickies bags, and i could barely fit a couple steno pads before the thing appeared overfilled. It's perfect for daily use, if you don't carry a laptop or full size note pad. The construction has kept up with a couple months of hard abusive daily carrying and commuting.I suppose all the previous negetive reviews came from people expecting something bigger. Worth Every Nickel
It's a shame that the critical reviewers were commenting on a listing error in the bag dimensions rather than the bag itself -- which totally rocks. For $8 or so you can do a lot worse for a handy little day pack type shoulder bag you can throw a sketchbook, a couple of pens, an iPod, cell phone and wallet into and hit the galleries. The bags were meant for carrying ammunition in Iraq while being shot at so it's a fairly sturdy canvas construction with a nice tongue close hitch to keep the flap down & the weather out of your stuff.I wish there were internal pockets or maybe an extra zippered pouch, but it serves the purpose of an inexpensive little personal carrying solution when you don't need a whole backpack but would rather not stuff your pockets like some kind of a dork. It's got a cool urban military jib to it's cut too that's something more interesting than an anonymous Office Max commuter bag, which is what I was replacing. Nice Laptop Bag
I've had it a little over a week, and so far I like the bag. I agree with "Fantasy Fiend" in that the style of the bag was a nice balance between the casual nature of a backpack and the stuffy business-like feel of most laptop bags.I have a 16" widescreen laptop, and it's a perfect fit.The handle is a little awkward if a laptop is not in the bag, but I intend to keep a laptop in it at most times, plus I don't usually use the handle, I use the shoulder strap. I do wish the shoulder straps had swivels attached to the ends. It seems like everytime I pick it up, I'm having to twist the strap around to make sure it's straight.I also wish it had at least one small pocket on the outside of the pack..one that you could get to without undoing the two main clasps (for gum, pens, thumb drives, etc). It has a pocket on the back of the bag, but anything you put in that pocket is right between the laptop and the padding designed to protect the bottom of the laptop..I can't...

carrying handle?
The offset placement of the carrying handle helps to balance the bag IF you are also lugging a laptop. Without the laptop in its slot and a few heavy textbooks in their logical place carrying by the handle is quite awkward because the bag is very out-of-balance.Unfortunately use of the shoulder strap does not alleviate the pressing against your lower body.I am updating my review to report additional consequences of the offset handle. After 5 Months of use the bag is splitting, tearing at the stress point of the imbalance. This bag is misnamed. It is not a messenger bag it is a Laptop-only carrying bag.

Great for a tall student
I purchased this to protect my laptop and carry around my books about a month ago. I must say, even with a 15.6" notebook, there is plenty of room for all my stuff. The only thing this bag is missing is a water bottle holder, I tend to just stick it in the middle inner pocket. I prefer the shoulder strap so I never use the handle on the back but the stitching seems adequate for most uses. Not Rowsdower adequate, but it would probably serve the purposes of Bob Johnson or Blast Hardcheese, whom I put my faith in. Remember, this is a notebook bag, so I try to not put anything too heavy or large in the bag. Bowling balls and/or cinder blocks probably wouldn't work. Yes the notebook carrying part is padded, but why take an unnecessary chance? It still fits my notebook/mouse/power adapter, paper notebook, various loose papers, ipod touch, and 2 of my college text books with ease (Think giant law tomes or organic chemistry, not... well I can't think of anything because all I have taken are...

Great Camea bag for SLR
I bought this Ospery Resource Shoulder as a camera bag for my Nikon D90. I use a shoulder sling setup for my camera and did not like have my camera lose when I'm not shotting. With the Warp shoulder bag I'm able to drop my D90 into the main compartment even with a 28x70 f/2.8 lens very easily. I'm also able to carry another lens,flash, batteries, filters and other items. The bag is comfortable even with all the equipment that I stuff into it. One other nice thing is that the bag does not look like a $2000 camera bag saying, "steal me". The bag is well thought out and made. Osprey Company has a lifetime policy on their bags which is a big plus.

Great macbook air bags
I've got two of these bags - a black one I purchased first from a local retailer and then a blue one I bought from Amazon at a better price. The black one is for my work-supplied laptop (11" Macbook Air) and the blue one is for my personal one (13" MBA). Each bag fits the laptop, a Kindle, power supplies for both, bluetooth headphones (Nokia BH905's for work, Jaybird SB2 for personal) and an assortment of cables and adapters. The work bag, for instance, has a bunch of Cisco serial port adapters and various other cables for networking equipment as well as the external superdrive. The personal one also carries gaming stuff and a Sprint overdrive for connectivity. It's great to be able to just grab the right colored bag for if I'm heading to work or heading out to do my own thing.The strap is comfy even when the bag's pretty heavily loaded and they ride great while on the bicycle. Great Quality, Perfect Size
I was looking for a way to carry my umbrella, , pen/paper, headphones, my lunch, and other random things that I have to bring between work and home on a daily basis. Since I take a crowded train both ways, I was looking for something that wasn't a backpack (as pick pockets could get into it and I'd have no idea because I'm pushed around the whole commute), that wasn't too large, and that didn't feel "Merse"-y. Luckily, this was the perfect bag to meet those criteria!The entire bag is very well made, has lots of organizational pockets, and fits very comfortablely.My one slight concern is that the water bottle mesh area is a little small, but perhaps over time it will get easier to put my larger size bottles into as the elasticity wears out.

Fabulous bag!!!
This bag has served me well for over a year! You can fit SO MUCH in it! I did alter it a little. I've re-sewn the straps on either side of the bag instead of on the back and i removed the board from the back to suit my needs. This has been to several countries including hiking in israel with me and it has yet to fail me in some way! It is losing it's dark olive color, but after more than a year who can complain about that?! The hardware is in really good condition, still. Very stable, reliable bag. The stitching is a little uneven in some places but I still recommend it without any limitations!

It's not too small, not too big. Holds several books and notebooks comfortably as well as other items. Has a small and very useful pouch on the front with two smaller pouches on either side of the front pouch, for pens, pencils, highliters, and markers. It's also got some slots that appear to be designed exclusively for pens and pencils, but they're too small so I don't use them. The inside of the bag is divided by a flap in the middle, creating two compartments. The back of the bag has a hard back that I don't like, and the back tends to make the bag fall forward if you try to stand it upright. The strap is adjustable. I take this bag pretty much everywhere with me. If I put the books in sideways, I can also comfortably fit in my sunglasses, a lint roller (we have a dog), my girlfriends hair brush and both our cell phones. Great Map/Messenger Bag
I'm a guy and I needed a bag that I could use to carry some items when I going on short hikes... things like a GPS, camera, bug spray etc. I didn't want to use a backpack or even those pseudo one strap backpacks... too big, too bulky. Can you say Rugged? (w/ a capital R)
I bought this strap for my duffel bag for a trip to europe and I can confidently say that the strap will outlast my eastpak duffel bag. Sure metal clips, comfortable pad, and extremely rugged design & materials make for the perfect shoulder strap.I would use this thing as a seatbelt. Period. It will not break.

Just what I needed
This is a replacement strap for my messenger bag. Or as my wife calls it my man purse or murse. It is just what I needed: there is a rough grip material that is on the under side of the padded section so there is no more sliding off my shoulder. The same section is curved so that it 'fits' over the shoulder. The length is adjustable enough to allow for a sling over or over the head use.

Purchased one, then ordered five more
I originally purchased one of these as a replacement strap for my camera bag full of expensive gear. I needed something strong, reliable, and comfortable. This is the end-all for shoulder straps. Pad is comfortable and will not slip. The clips are METAL and secure...carry your load with confidence. Overall build quality is well above average. Within two days of receiving the original order, I purchased 5 more to replace all my shoulder straps for tool bags, luggage, and camera equipment...its that good!
