nice product, fairly ecoconscious
This mattress seems to hit a nice median point in terms of being earth friendly, safe for your child, and reasonably priced. I did some research and found that this little mattress was able to provide the best safety from harmful chemicals in the middle price range. It was(is) neither too expensive nor cheap. I think it was $150.00. It does have a plastic casing which makes it not totally safe, but better than the average. My baby girl sleeps well on it and I sleep better knowing she is as safe - as safe as I can make her without buying a $400.00 mattress.

Sealy Soybean Foam-Core
I just recently purchased this mattress after a lot of research. In my search I had a hard time deciding whether this mattress was truly organic and without chemicals. The cover is made of vinyle-laminate which is the only part of this mattress thats makes it not completely organic. Sealy does however state that the cover although vinyl-laminate is phthalate and flammability compliant and does not contain toxic fire retardants. Sealy makes the exact same mattress called the Sealy Soybean Foam-Core Dream which is made with a cotton cover. I was able to find this mattress at Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby websites fot about 160$ plus shipping. Sealy's website is also helpful at [...]. Great mattress that's good for baby and the environment!
***UPDATE*** Baby has been sleeping on his mattress for over a month now and he is super cozy and always sleeps through the night (knock on wood). It's soft without being too soft, and I can rest easy knowing he isn't breathing in nasty chemicals. Still highly recommended!I ordered this mattress after ordering another one that I felt had too many chemicals in it. So far this mattress seems great! My baby appears to be pretty cozy on it and I like that it's made with natural materials and not loaded with chemicals. It's also great that I can flip it over to the toddler side when he gets older. Fits perfectly in our Graco Lauren crib and all standard mattress pads and sheets fit on it. Highly recommended!Also it didn't smell at all directly out of the box which was nice. Many mattresses smell like chemicals and need to be aired out before using.

Baby sleeping soundly!!!!!
We bought this mattress to fit in the Graco Lauren crib and it fits PERFECTLY! The mattress had no smell and is labeled as to which side is the latex (for toddlers) vs. soy foam (for infants). Since we got this mattress, our baby has been sleeping MUCH more soundly, and even through the night on a much more consistent basis! (Her old mattress was a hand-me-down Sealy with springs.) The mattress was delivered in a nice box that fit it just right. She does not get sweaty or hot from the foam, which was a minor concern of mine. I am VERY pleased with this mattress, which is made in the USA, and would DEFINITELY recommend it!I was a little nervous because it said that I would be emailed when they would become available to ship, but I got the mattress within 5 days of ordering.As a side note, I was also looking into the Sealy Soy-foam core, which is cheaper, but am glad I bought this one...the latex side is softer and meant for toddlers, so hopefully we won't be...
